Homeless Camp At Glenmary Clubhouse

Apparently homeless people are staying around the Glenmary clubhouse and pool area.  The police have been called several times but say that they cannot do anything about it.

One of the men, who may have mental issues, was caught in the backyard of a home on Baumler Pl. The homeowner chased him off the property but he kept saying that he was looking for someone that he lost.

This may be the same man from the Glenmary property who has been seen wandering behind Kohl’s and Circle K.  Glenmary residents have reported that he walks the streets and has arguments with himself and residents. It has been reported that he has tried the doors of several homes.

Councilman Engel has been informed to see if he can summon help from some agency.

Please be cautious when outside in Glenmary East especially at night. Lock your doors and close garage doors!

Alert from LMPD 7th Division – Garage Burglaries

We have seen several garage burglaries recently. They are spread all over the 7th – no specific district. With the warm weather, people are leaving their garages open all day/night. This provides an easy opportunity for people looking to steal to take various items from garages. It also provides easy access to the home if the garage is attached. I have asked officers to remind the community to close their garages, especially overnight, as they are on patrol. Also, a reminder to keep record of serial numbers of expensive equipment/tools/firearms would be great. This information in vital in locating and identifying stolen property.

A Message from 7th Div. LMPD Major McKinley: Preventing Auto Theft

Auto Theft in the 7th Division has gone up the past couple weeks. This time of year we usually see an increase in auto thefts due to people leaving their cars running in the colder weather. It appears this is starting back up, and I want to make sure we are getting the message out to prevent these crimes from occurring. While it is tempting to warm up our cars on a cold morning or run into the gas station really quick while leaving the car running, these opportunities are quickly capitalized on by those looking for cars to steal. We are currently organizing some details in the 7th to address these issues, but the officers can’t be everywhere and need help getting the message out. Our 3 main messages to get out would be:

  1. DO NOT leave running cars unattended!
  2. LOCK your doors.
  3. REMOVE keys and valuables from your cars.

Thank you all for your support and assistance in keeping our neighborhoods safe!
